Getting There

From Lviv to Truskavets — train, bus, taxi

Lviv is the natural staging post for Truskavets — most visitors pass through it whatever their origin. The final ~100 km southward are simple.

By train

A direct electric train (elektrychka) runs Lviv → Truskavets several times daily, taking about two hours through Stryi or Drohobych, ending right at the resort's own station. Tickets are famously cheap (a coffee costs more) and are bought at the station or in the Ukrzaliznytsia app. Intercity trains from other cities also serve the route seasonally — check booking.uz.gov.ua for the current table.

The station sits a 10–15-minute walk (or short taxi) from the pump-room quarter; sanatoriums often meet the popular arrivals.

By bus and marshrutka

From Lviv's main bus station (AS-8 near the railway terminal and Dvirtseva square stops), buses and marshrutkas to Truskavets leave roughly every 30–45 minutes through the day, many routed via Drohobych. Journey time 1.5–2.5 hours depending on traffic and stops; buy the ticket from the driver or at the counter. Comfort is functional rather than fancy — for luggage-heavy or elderly travellers the train or a transfer is kinder.

By taxi or transfer

A private transfer or intercity taxi runs the distance in about 1.5 hours. Prices vary with fuel and season; expect the cost of a decent restaurant dinner for the car, not per person. All the big hotels (Rixos, Mirotel and colleagues) arrange transfers at fixed rates — book together with the room. Ride-hailing apps work in Lviv and usually agree to intercity trips at a negotiated fare.

Driving yourself

Take the M-06/H-13 route Lviv → Mykolaiv → Stryi → Drohobych → Truskavets or the slightly shorter road via Pustomyty and Sambir direction — around 1.5–2 hours. Roads on this corridor are in fair shape; watch for village speed limits and the occasional checkpoint (routine document check, have your passport handy). Parking at hotels is normally free; the centre has paid street parking.

Which to choose?

Cheapest and most scenic: the elektrychka. Most flexible: bus. Least effort: hotel transfer. If your luggage includes a three-week sanatorium wardrobe — take the transfer and start the holiday early.
